Description: Dun-colored, small-mouthed cylindrical stoneware jar with rounded shoulders, two-gallon capacity, with crescent-shaped lug handles and a flattened roll rim. Cobalt blue slip-decorated stylized leaf on belly, and cobalt slip-decorated stamped markings. No lid. Stamped "F.WOODWORTH / BURLINGTON, VT. / 2" in upper center of one side, below rim.

Notes: According to company invoices in the Ballard Pottery Company Collection at the University of Vermont Special Collections, this type of jar was sold by Ballard, F. Woodworth's predecessor, as a lidded "preserve jar," and it was produced in 1/2 to 4 gallon sizes. This jar presumably was sold with a lid, no longer present.
