Description
Dun-colored, oviod formed stoneware jar with narrow neck and wide banded collar, five-gallon (?) capacity. Cobalt blue slip-decorated stylized tulip on belly, and cobalt slip-decorated stamped markings. Stamped "O.K. & A.L. BALLARD/ BURLINGTON, VT. / 5 [?]" in upper center, below rim.

Notes
According to company invoices in the Ballard Pottery Company Collection at the University of Vermont Special Collections, this type of jar was sold by Ballard as a "jug," and it was produced in 1/4 to 5 gallon sizes.
