Catholic priest P.J. Barrett was transferred from his post at St. Mary's Cathedral in Burlington to Poultney, Vermont. Crowds of well-wishers saw him off as he left Burlington on July 29, 1910: “Father Barrett Transferred,” Burlington Free Press and Times, Thursday July 28, 1910: “It was announced at all the masses Sunday at St. Mary’s Cathedral that the Rev. P.J. Barrett, for the past 14 years the rector, has been ordered by Bishop J.J. Rice to St. Raphael’s Church in Poultney … Father Barrett will leave for his new field to-morrow.”
